Starting the Search - Wish list
Now that you have decided to move, you should identify and prioritise the features you are looking for in your new home. You can do this by preparing a wish list before you start searching. Your wish list should prioritise between what is essential and what is preferable. You probably won't get all your wishes in your new home, but you stand a better chance of getting most of them if you have prepared a list.
Here are some of the things you should consider when you prepare your wish list.
Area
City centre, suburb, town, countryside, seaside.
Type of home
Detached, semi-detached, terraced, bungalow, apartment.
Condition
Age, repair/renovation required, redecoration.
Size
Number of bedrooms, bathrooms/toilets, reception rooms. Dining room, kitchen, utility room, study, garage, garden.
Location
Busy or quiet road. South facing. Proximity to schools, work, shops, parks, public transport, pubs/restaurants. Is the view important?
Other features
En-suite bathroom, gas fired central heating, fitted kitchen, double glazing, shower, bath, fitted wardrobes, timber floors.
